❤️Why We Love This Recipe
- Better than Starbucks! We know it's a bold claim, but it's better than Starbucks in so many ways! From the flavor, the price point, the ability to customize it to your liking, and the fact that you can make it in your pajamas without waiting in line, homemade wins over Starbucks every time!
- Quick and easy. You only need a hand mixer (or a whisk) and 5 minutes to make this drink. It doesn't get easier than that!
- Made with simple ingredients. Everything you need to make this recipe can be found at any grocery store in the fall! If you're like us, you can stock up on pumpkin puree and make it year-round!
🎃Ingredients
Here are the ingredients we used for this recipe. You can find more information for substitutions below.
- Pumpkin puree. Make sure to use pure pumpkin puree instead of pumpkin pie filling. They're very different since pumpkin pie filling has added sugar and spices. We like to add our own.
- Pumpkin spice. We use a homemade pumpkin pie spice blend, but store-bought works perfectly fine!
- Heavy cream. This is what makes the topping so rich and creamy. It's not milk!
- Sweetened condensed milk. This is what Starbucks uses to sweeten the cold foam, so we're going to use it too!
- Kosher salt. This is probably technically optional, but we feel it really enhances all of the flavors and the sweetness of this drink and balances everything out!

✨Substitutions & Variations
Here are a few suggestions on additional flavors to try, or simple variations to this recipe.
- Dairy-free/vegan. You can use a dairy-free sweetened condensed milk, and a heavy cream substitute like full-fat coconut milk like in our coconut latte to make this recipe dairy-free and vegan.
- More or less sweet. The great thing about this recipe is that it's up to you how sweet it is! You can add more or less sweetened condensed milk depending on how sweet you enjoy things.
- Add maple. Add a hint of maple syrup to this drink for even more fall flavor! You may also enjoy this maple latte if you're a big fan of maple things!
- Salted caramel pumpkin cold foam. You can totally make this drink your own! Craving something extra decadent? Try drizzling some of this homemade salted caramel sauce overtop of the cold foam for an incredibly delicious fall treat!

- Measure out all of your ingredients.
📋Instructions
Make the pumpkin cold foam
In a mixing bowl, combine pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, kosher salt, vanilla extract, pumpkin spice, and heavy cream. Image 1)
Mix using a whisk or a hand mixer until the mixture begins to thicken, bit is still pourable. (Image 2)
Now, just store your pumpkin cold foam in the fridge until it's time to make your drink. It can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week!
Pro tip: The time needed to thicken the cold foam will depend on the method you use! We like using a hand mixer because it's easier, and it took about 4 minutes of mixing on medium speed.
Assemble the drink
Whenever you're ready to make a drink throughout the week, simply pour cold brew or iced coffee over ice in a glass (Image 3), top with the cold foam, (Image 4), and then add a sprinkle of pumpkin spice if desired! (Image 5)
Serve, and enjoy!
✨Top Tips
- Don't mix the cold foam for too long! Over mixing your foam will turn it into whipped cream, and eventually, if you keep mixing, you'll end up with something like butter. Mix until the cream has thickened, but is still pourable. For this reason, we actually don't recommend using a blender, because it can be harder to tell when it's done mixing!
- Sweeten to taste. This is your drink after all! Make it however you like. If you prefer it sweeter, add more, and if you like it less sweet, add less!

Making your own pumpkin spice at home for this drink is totally optional, but we love making our own so we can control the flavors that go in!
Combine:
4 tablespoons of ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons ground allspice
2 teaspoons ground cloves
& about ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom (if you want, we love cardamom!)
This makes a large batch, just under 8 tablespoons worth. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place and use in other recipes!
