Here’s What You Need For This Keto Dalgona Whipped Coffee:

Ingredients:

spoonful of whipped coffee foam

Recipe Notes:

The only truly essential ingredients for this recipe are: instant coffee, sweetener, hot water, and your milk of choice. The important thing to remember with this recipe is that the sweetener, instant coffee and water need to be a 1:1:1 ratio. Very important, seriously! If the ratio is off, it simply won’t turn out.

The other thing you need to know is that you have to whisk this for about 7-10 minutes probably. It will take a while. Just be patient!

Sweeteners: You can easily substitute for whatever granular sweetener you want, key word being granular sweetener. We love to use this Ketose+ Sweet powder, which is an allulose, monk fruit and stevia blend. We find that this sweetener tastes the most like sugar, and it measures 1:1!

Powdered sweeteners will likely not whip the same. If you happen to find out the correct amount of powdered sweetener to use, let us know in the comments.

Add-ins: We added vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt to our coffee, which is something we would normally do with coffee. Get creative! Just add vanilla extract later in the whipping process, don’t add it with the hot water, or else it will “cook” it out.

Milk: Use whatever your favorite milk or milk replacement is. We used a blend of whole milk and heavy whipping cream. You could use just milk, full fat coconut milk, heavy whipping cream, half and half, or really any nut milk you want. Just be aware that this is where all the carbs come into your drink, so whatever you choose will affect the carb and calorie counts drastically.

Whisk/Tools: We’ve tried making this coffee with a simple whisk, a handheld frother, and a hand mixer. Honestly, you could use any of those things. For us, the simplest (and quickest) way to make this was with a handheld mixer. It’s high powered and will get the job done quick. You could also use a regular whisk or handheld frother if you are really patient. We just aren’t!

When using a handheld mixer, you will need to whip it for about 3-5 minutes. It will likely take a lot longer with other methods, but it can definitely be done. We first started with a regular whisk just to incorporate all of the ingredients, then switched to a hand mixer.

You will want to whip this until there are stiff peaks. It will be super thick, and look like peanut butter!

Let’s Make It!

In a small bowl or container, add your instant coffee, sweetener of choice, salt and cinnamon (if you’re adding extras). Add in your water.

Use a regular whisk to incorporate the ingredients gently. This is mainly so that coffee and water don’t fly everywhere. After a minute or so, add in your vanilla extract if you’re using it.

At this point, we switched to a hand mixer, because we don’t quite have the patience to keep whisking by hand. It will take a while, longer than you expect. Just be patient! With a hand mixer it took us about 3 minutes. Whip until it forms stiff peaks. The color will change a lot too. To us, it looks like super creamy peanut butter!

Add ice to a glass and fill with milk or milk substitutes. We ended up using a blend of heavy whipping cream and whole milk. Spoon the whipped coffee mixture on top.

Mix everything up, and enjoy!
