✨Substitutions & variations
Here are a few suggestions on additional flavors to try, or simple variations to this recipe.
- Add ginger flavor. Feel free to top this drink with ginger ale or ginger beer for a bubbly sweetness.
- Mellow it out with soda water. If you want something fizzy without extra sweetness, try adding club soda or soda water.
- Swap out the mint. You can use fresh basil or any fresh herbs of your choice for this drink. Basil or mint are our top choices since their bright flavors complement sweet ingredients so well.
- Sweeten with a different sweetener. You can make classic simple syrup, brown sugar simple syrup, or any other sweet syrup that you'd prefer. Agave also works really well.
- Add more fruity flavor. If you're feeling adventurous, try a flavored simple syrup like peach syrup, blueberry syrup, or raspberry syrup for this recipe!
- Peaches out of season? You can use frozen peaches, canned peaches, or even peach jam if you'd like! Canned peaches and peach jam will add more sugar to the drink, so keep this in mind and maybe scale back on the maple syrup you add.
- Low carb or low sugar. Swap out the maple syrup for your favorite sugar free maple syrup (affiliate link).
🔪Prep work

📋Instructions
In a mixing glass, add chopped peaches, (Image 1) followed by fresh lemon juice. (Image 2)
Add in the maple syrup (Image 3) then muddle the mixture really well before adding the mint.
✨Pro Tip: If making this drink for the first time, add half the amount of maple syrup to start to ensure it's not too sweet for your palate.
Add the mint and muddle gently again. (Image 4)
Pour in the bourbon. (Image 5)
✨Pro tip: Do the heavy muddling BEFORE adding the mint. Once the mint is added, you just want to muddle very gently to release the oils. Over-muddling will cause the mint to become bitter.
Add ice to the glass, and stir to chill. (Image 6)
Pour the contents of the mixing glass straight into an old-fashioned or low-ball glass. (Image 7)
Add more ice if desired, then garnish with a mint sprig, and peach slices. Enjoy!
✨Tips & tricks
- Use ripe peaches. Sweet, ripe peaches will make for a delicious drink! The more ripe they are, the sweeter they are too.
- Use fresh lemon juice. Fresh squeezed lemon juice is a must for this drink. Since there are so few ingredients, make them all count!
- Don't over muddle the mint. Simply add the mint after the peaches and lemon juice have been muddled, and give it a few gentle turns to release the oils from the mint. If you muddle it too much, the mint will become bitter.
- Sweeten to taste. If making this drink for the first time, be sure to add the maple syrup slowly and to taste to achieve your desired sweetness level.
