✨Substitutions & variations
Here are a few suggestions on additional flavors to try, or simple variations to this recipe.
- No maple syrup. You can sweeten this drink with your favorite sweetener if you don't have maple syrup. Our top choices would be honey or brown sugar.
- No apple cider. Fresh apple cider from local farms is always going to give you the best flavor, but if you can't find any or it's out of season, this drink can be made with apple juice. It just won't taste quite the same.
- Add fresh apples. Want to add some extra fruit for texture and flavor? Try adding a bit of your favorite apples (we'd choose Honeycrisp apples) to the mix as well.
- Have with with the presentation. For extra flair to this delicious beverage, make a cinnamon sugar rim for the glasses, add a drizzle of salted caramel, or both!
- Make a sugar free version. This is really easy to do, but it will require a bit of planning! Make our sugar free apple cider up to 10 days in advance, and make them into ice cubes. Use the liquid sugar free apple cider in the mix, then use sugar free maple syrup or your favorite sugar or brown sugar substitute.
- Make it a fall cocktail! Want a boozy apple cider slushie for the adults? You can easily add some bourbon or your favorite spirit!

✨Pro Tip: If the mixture is too thin, add more apple cider ice cubes. If it's too thick, add a bit more apple cider to thin. Don't use regular ice cubes! This will dilute the drink too much!
Sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon, and garnish with a cinnamon stick and apple slices. Enjoy right away!
