This Sugar Free Dark and Stormy Cocktail is a low carb twist on the classic drink. This drink will delight rum lovers. A strong base of spiced rum, lightened up with fresh lime juice, sugar free ginger beer, and a dash of angostura bitters. Only 2 net carbs per cocktail! The perfect pick me up for cool autumn evenings that won’t sacrifice your sugar free lifestyle.

Here’s What You Need For This Sugar Free Dark and Stormy Cocktail:
Ingredients:
- Ice
- Juice of 1 whole lime + lime wedges for garnish
- 2 ounces spiced rum or dark rum of choice (we opted for Captain Morgan spiced rum)
- 2 ounces dark rum of choice (we option for Bacardi 8 year reserve)
- Dash of Angostura bitters (optional)
- Ginger beer of choice (we used Diet Goslings)

Recipe Notes:
The recipe provided for this Sugar Free Dark and Stormy Cocktail is for 2 servings, and is made in a cocktail shaker. In the original making of this recipe, the cocktail is not shaken in a cocktail shaker. You can simply pour it into your glass and stir if you want, but we love to mingle all the ingredients together. Again, optional. In addition, angostura bitters are not traditionally used. Feel free to leave them out if you want, but again, we like them! Dark and Stormy purists would probably crucify us for the way we make these.
Mixers: For this drink you want to use ginger beer, not ginger ale. If you aren’t concerned with carbs, feel free to use any ginger beer you want. To make this low carb, simply swap regular ginger beer for a low carb version like Diet Goslings. We think it tastes delicious!
Liquor: For this drink you want to use a spiced rum of your choice if you can get your hands on it. We don’t like using all spiced rum, so we mix spiced rum with dark rum. If you don’t have spiced rum, dark rum will do.

Let’s Make It!
The recipe provided makes 2 servings, so we found it easier to make this drink in a cocktail shaker. You could certainly make them by the glass too, like the classic dark and stormy cocktails are made. Add in your rum to an ice filled cocktail shaker.
Using a heavy duty citrus squeezer, squeeze in the juice of a whole lime. Add in a dash of bitters.
Shake well, and strain into ice filled rocks or low ball glasses.
Fill glasses with ginger beer.
Garnish with lime wedges, and enjoy responsibly!
