hand mixer (can use a stand mixer with a whisk attachment) mixing bowl
- 8 ounces unsalted butter, room temperature (2 sticks)
- 3 tablespoons honey (or more, to taste)
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon milk, room temperature (optional, to thin)
Combine softened butter, honey, and salt in a mixing bowl. Starting on low speed with a hand mixer or stand mixer with a paddle attachment, increase to medium speed and mix until completely combined.
Add more honey and/or salt to taste, and continue mixing, streaming in milk slowly until desired consistency is reached.
Spread over top of bread, sweet potatoes, cornbread muffins, and more! Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days. To freeze, store in a freezer-safe container for up to 6 months and thaw in the fridge overnight.
- Make sure to mix room-temperature ingredients for best results.
- Don't use raw honey, make sure to use a pourable/runny type of honey.
- Sweeten and add salt to taste.
- Don't freeze leftovers in a glass container, as glass expands as it gets cold and may burst.
- Feel free to mix in additional flavors like ground cinnamon or spices, vanilla, lemon zest, and even hot honey instead of regular honey.
