Equipment

  • cocktail mixing glass
  • wood muddler
  • bar spoon
  • sharp knife
  • Jigger

Ingredients

  • ½ medium peach, chopped into small chunks
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ½ - 1 ounce maple syrup (to taste!)
  • 4-5 leaves fresh mint
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • ice for the mixing glass & drink
  • peach slices, mint for garnish

Instructions

  • Add the peach chunks, lemon juice, and maple syrup to the bottom of a mixing glass and muddle well.
  • Add the mint leaves, and muddle again gently.
  • Add the bourbon, followed by the ice and stir to chill.
  • Pour into a serving glass, and garnish with peach slices and fresh mint. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use ripe peaches. Sweet, ripe peaches will make for a delicious drink! The more ripe they are, the sweeter they are too.
  • Use fresh lemon juice. Fresh squeezed lemon juice is a must for this drink. Since there are so few ingredients, make them all count!
  • Don't over muddle the mint. Simply add the mint after the peaches and lemon juice have been muddled, and give it a few gentle turns to release the oils from the mint. If you muddle it too much, the mint will become bitter.
  • Sweeten to taste. If making this drink for the first time, be sure to add the maple syrup slowly and to taste to achieve your desired sweetness level.
  • To make a large batch: Follow all of the same steps of muddling the peaches and lemon juice, in the bottom of a pitcher or punch bowl. Add the mint, muddle that, then add maple syrup and bourbon and stir. You can add ice to the mixture if you'd like, or, simply let people ladle the mixture into ice-filled glasses.
  • For a strained version: You can mix this drink up in a cocktail shaker and double-strain it into an ice-filled glass if you like. Or, you can add a Hawthorne strainer over the top of your mixing glass before pouring it into serving glasses.
