- 3 ripe fresh figs halved (see notes to swap for fig jam)
- ½ ounce lemon juice
- ½ -1 ounce maple syrup to taste (see notes if using fig jam)
- 1.5 ounces vodka
- Ice to fill cocktail shaker
- Fresh figs & thyme for garnish optional
Chill your glass. Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer, or place ice in it while you prep.
Muddle the figs (or add jam). If using fresh figs, add halved figs to a cocktail shaker and muddle well until broken down and jammy. If using fig jam, simply add 1 tablespoon to the shaker - no muddling needed.

Add remaining ingredients. Add lemon juice, maple syrup, and vodka, followed by ice.
½ ounce lemon juice, ½ -1 ounce maple syrup, 1.5 ounces vodka, Ice to fill cocktail shaker
Shake. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds until well chilled.
Strain and serve. Double strain into your chilled glass using a cocktail strainer and fine-mesh strainer to catch any pulp or seeds. Garnish with a fresh fig half and thyme sprig if desired. Enjoy immediately! Garnish with fresh figs and thyme if desired. Enjoy!
Fresh figs & thyme for garnish
- Fresh figs vs. jam: Fresh figs give you the prettiest pink color and brightest flavor - use them when they're in season (late summer through early fall). Fig jam works beautifully the rest of the year and requires no muddling!
- Adjusting sweetness with jam: Since fig jam has added sugar, start with just 1 teaspoon of maple syrup and adjust to taste.
- Choosing fresh figs: Look for ripe, soft figs that yield gently to pressure. They'll be sweeter and muddle more easily. Avoid figs that are overly mushy or rock hard.
- Spirit swaps: Bourbon pairs wonderfully with the maple and fig flavors! Gin or dark rum also works beautifully.
- Make it bubbly: Top with prosecco, sparkling wine, or club soda for an effervescent version.
- Make-ahead for parties: Prep the fig base (muddled figs or jam + lemon + maple) a few hours ahead; refrigerate. Add vodka and ice just before serving.
- Storage: This cocktail is best enjoyed immediately. The fresh fig flavor fades quickly, so make it fresh!
