Equipment

  • air fryer (use what you have of course, just adjust cooking times accordingly!)

Ingredients

For the chicken wings

  • 4.5 pounds chicken wing sections
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt (to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the hot honey butter sauce

  • 1.5 sticks unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces hot honey sauce (homemade or storebought)
  • 2 ounces pure honey (optional and to taste)
  • parsley, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and more hot honey to garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F, or the oven to 425°F, and prepare a baking sheet with parchment or air fryer trays with non-stick spray.
  • In a large bowl, toss chicken wing sections with avocado oil, salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder. Add to baking sheets or air fryer trays in a single layer and bake until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through. Air fry for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F and the chicken wings are golden brown and crispy. This will take around 45-50 minutes in the oven.
4.5 pounds chicken wing sections, 2 tablespoons avocado oil, 1 tablespoon kosher salt, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, ½ teaspoon black pepper, 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by melting butter in a saucepan. Add hot honey, and honey, and adjust seasonings to taste. Simmer over low heat, stirring often to combine. Don't allow the mixture to boil.
1.5 sticks unsalted butter, 4 ounces hot honey sauce, 2 ounces pure honey
  • After the wings are cooked through, toss them in about half of the sauce. You can broil or air fry for a few minutes to help the honey caramelize and stick to the wings if desired. Serve with the remaining sauce, and drizzle hot honey over top if desired. Enjoy!
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • If using store-bought hot honey, you may need to add more spices to taste.
  • Add honey and spices to taste. You can adjust the sweetness and spice level to suit your own personal preferences.
  • We recommend about 1 teaspoon of kosher salt per pound of wings! Keep this in mind if you're using table salt, you may want to use a bit less (as it is more salty than kosher salt).
  • Be mindful that cooking times will varyThe time needed to cook the wings is based on the model of your air fryer and your personal preference. Our air fryer is 1500 watts. It is a good idea to check the wattage of your air fryer before cooking. Higher wattage may want to use a lower temperature/shorter cooking time.
