Notes

How to make sugar free (or regular!) chocolate simple syrup:
We use allulose in our sugar free version. It is slightly less sweet than sugar, so use about 1 and ⅓ cups of allulose to replace every 1 cup of sugar. Feel free to replace with regular sugar.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 and ⅓ cups allulose
  • 2 ounces cocoa powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1. Combine water, allulose, salt, and cocoa powder in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat to dissolve the allulose, and whisk frequently to combine until fully dissolved.
  2. Once combined, remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Set aside to cool.
  3. Make sure to cool completely before adding to cold drinks, although this drink is great in coffee too!
  4. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
*We don't recommend making the drink itself in advance, although you can make the chocolate simple syrup about 30 days ahead. You can also prep your blood orange juice a day or so in advance.
*Please note that the nutrition facts are for homemade sugar free chocolate simple syrup, and will be impacted if you use regular sugar.
