This Blackberry Ginger Gin Smash is a refreshing, flavorful cocktail with gin, lemon, fresh blackberries, sugar free ginger simple syrup and club soda.
2ounceshomemade sugar free ginger simple syrup* (to taste, see notes)
Club soda or sparkling water to top drinks
Instructions
Start by preparing the simple syrup. This can be done up to 10 days in advance. Cut up your ginger into small pieces, then add them to a small saucepan with your water and allulose. Allow allulose to dissolve, then bring mixture to a boil. Now, reduce mixture to a simmer, and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes. You could simmer it longer for a stronger ginger flavor. When the ginger flavor is to your taste, strain the ginger bits from the liquid.
Set aside to cool. Refrigerate indefinitely! We aren’t experts but we think that as long as it looks/smells fine, it’s fine to use. Keep refrigerated.
In a cocktail shaker, add blackberries and sage to the bottom. Muddle together.
Add in fresh squeezed lemon juice, your sugar free ginger simple syrup, and your gin. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice, and shake until cold (about 30 seconds).
Double strain to catch any leftover blackberry bits and pour into high ball glasses filled with ice.
Top with club soda or sparkling water, stir with a bar spoon, then garnish with sage, blackberries, and dried lemon from the cocktail garnish.
Notes
You can make the simple syrup in advance and store in the fridge. This cocktail should be made fresh.
