Recipe Notes:

We created this recipe as a part of a recipe contest hosted by Steviva Brands Sweeteners, using KetoseSweet+ Powder. Steviva creates all natural, sugar free sweeteners made of high quality ingredients that won’t affect your blood sugar! It’s so great that there incredible quality sweeteners out there that help us stick to our goals while simultaneously allowing us to create tasty treats. Thank you to Steviva for providing us with the sweeteners used to create this recipe!

*You may notice on the package it says 4 grams of sugar per serving. This is because allulose (a very rare natural sugar found in figs and other fruits) currently must be listed as a sugar on packaging. It is not digested by the body, therefore adds very few calories and does not affect blood sugar.

Let’s Make It!

Bring water to a rolling boil in a medium sized saucepan. In a bowl, mix cocoa powder, KetoseSweet+ Powder, cinnamon and salt together.

When water is boiling, slowly whisk in the dry ingredients. Add in slowly and whisk vigorously, so it doesn’t clump. Whisk until a sauce is formed, with no clumps.

After all the dry ingredients are mixed in, slowly whisk in the almond milk and vanilla extract. Whisk every so often and cook on medium heat, until the mixture has reached your desired drinking temperature, about 5 minutes.

Then add in the heavy whipping cream while whisking. Add in your bourbon, slowly. You will want to taste as you go. We added 2.5 oz, but you could certainly add more if you like things more boozy tasting. It’s truly up to you.

Allow the hot cocoa to warm on the stove for a few more minutes, and then pour into mugs.

Servings: 4 people
Calories: 189 kcal
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup KetoseSweet+ Powder (sugar free sweetener)
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt
  • 3 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2.5 oz bourbon (or to taste)
  1. Start by bringing your water to a boil in a medium sized saucepan over medium heat.

  2. In a bowl, mix cocoa powder, salt, KetoseSweet+ powder, and cinnamon together.

  3. When the water comes to a rolling boil, slowly whisk in all your dry ingredients. Add it in carefully and whisk vigorously so there are no clumps. It should thicken and be clump free when it is ready.

  4. After all the dry ingredients are added, slowly whisk in the almond milk, and vanilla extract. Let the mixture cook on the stove on medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring every so often until the mixture has reached your desired drinking temperature.

  5. Slowly whisk in the heavy whipping cream.

  6. Now, slowly whisk in your bourbon and taste as you go. We went with 2.5 oz, but have made it with up to 4 oz of bourbon before. Truly depends on how boozy you like things to taste, so, taste as you go to ensure it fits what you like!

  7. Now, over medium-low heat, let the cocoa return to the temperate you want.

  8. Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream (optional) and dust with cinnamon or cocoa powder. Enjoy!
