Here's What You Need For Low Carb Blood Orange and Serrano Ginger Fizz:

Ingredients (makes 2 cocktails):

  • 3 ounces of serrano pepper infused tequila (to infuse, you need 16 ounces of tequila of choice and 1-3 serrano peppers)
  • Ice
  • 1 blood orange + more slices for garnish
  • 1/2 lemon + wedges for garnish
  • 1/4 tsp Himalayan pink salt + more for salting the rim of your glasses
  • 5-10 drops of SweetLeaf Stevia Clear* optional, depends on if you like things a touch sweet or not. We used 10 drops and thought it was perfect. If you aren’t low carb, simply use simple syrup, agave syrup or even honey.
  • 1 can ginger ale of choice, our pick is Zevia Ginger Ale (it’s 0 calories and carbs because it’s sweetened with Stevia!)

Here's How To Make Low Carb Blood Orange and Serrano Ginger Fizz:

A few days prior to making this cocktail, you will need to infuse your tequila. We promise, it’s the easiest process ever. We took 3 serrano peppers, cut them up (seeds and all) and put them into a mason jar, then covered them with tequila (about 16 ounces of tequila) and then put the lid on. Shake the jar vigorously for about 30 seconds, then leave the jar in a cool place out of the sunlight for as long as you desire, or really until the spiciness level is where you want it.

We only needed less than 24 hours to get our tequila to a pretty hot level that we really enjoyed. Again, we used 3 whole peppers. You will need to taste the tequila to make sure you like it! When your tequila is ready, simply take a metal sieve and strain the tequila thru into a mason jar, discarding the peppers. If you want to make a second infusion, keep the peppers and repeat the process, because they will still be plenty hot!  We’re not experts on how long the tequila will last now that it’s infused… we’ll say 7 days to be safe.

Add 3 ounces of your serrano infused tequila to your cocktail shaker with some ice.
Add in the juice of the blood orange and lemon.
Add in your SweetLeaf Stevia drops and salt at this time. Then put the lid on the cocktail shaker and shake it up!
Strain the mixture into some chilled glasses that have been rimmed with salt. Add in more ice if you like, as well as a squeeze of lemon.
Top the drinks with ginger ale.

Low Carb Cocktails and Weight Loss: We don't claim to be experts on this, but even alcohol low in carbs is known to stall weight loss or maybe kick you out of ketosis. We don't drink very often, but once in a while if we want a drink, we try to make it low in carbs so we can enjoy with a little less guilt. Something to be aware of.
