A naturally gluten free, lower in carbs and sugar version of a broccoli slaw recipe, made with tender, sweet broccolini instead! We use a sugar free sweetener instead of traditional sugar to make the dressing, which is normally loaded with this calorie laden component that seems to be in EVERYTHING.
This recipe is reminiscent of a broccoli slaw recipe my grandma used to make! We promise, it's just as good (if not a little better, sorry Grandma!) and we added a few more spices to it too! 😉
Another slight change we made was using tender, sweet broccolini (also known as baby broccoli) instead of regular broccoli. You can't go wrong with this super simple recipe that's ready in under 25 minutes.

Ingredients:
- Broccolini - Also known as baby broccoli! This tender, slightly sweet version has long stalks and tender florets. The perfect base for this slaw.
- Carrots - Finely shredded or matchstick carrots add the perfect crunch and some sweetness!
- Apple - Use something tart and sweet, we love honey crisp, but use your favorite variety.
- Dried cherries - Tart and sweet! Use dried cranberries if you prefer, and look for the no sugar added versions.
- Green onions - Adds a well rounded bite to this otherwise sweet salad. Finely minced red onion could also be a great choice.
- Almond slices - Or chopped almonds. Walnuts or pecans would be really tasty as well!
For the dressing:
- Dijon mustard - Adds that right balance you're looking for in the dressing.
- Apple cider vinegar - For a bit of tanginess and acidity.
- Greek yogurt & mayonnaise - We like using a mixture of both to create a balanced dressing that isn't too rich.
- Lemon juice - Freshly squeezed.
- Sweetener - Use any sweetener you prefer, but we like powdered erythritol, and it measures like sugar too.
- Seasonings - Kosher salt, ground black pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and some Italian seasoning.
How to Make This Broccolini Salad Recipe:
In a medium sized bowl, add all of your dressing ingredients, whisk well, and set aside until it's time to put everything together.
Place your carrots, apples, celery, dried cherries and broccolini in a large bowl or a shallow plate.
Pour dressing over top of the veggies and toss to mix.
Add in green onions and sliced almonds.
Plate and garnish with more green onions, almonds and cherries.
Tips For The Best Broccolini Slaw:
- This salad is best enjoyed fresh, and doesn't save for very long. Chill for about 1 hour before serving, just to let the flavors meld, then enjoy right away.
- If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
Optional Add-Ins:
- Make it a meal by adding cooked chicken breast or shrimp!
- Add more veggies, red onions or nuts.
